Hi, I am Alma Chopra. My name is derived from a Spanish word ‘Alma’ which means ‘soul’. And it is my soul that guides me or should I say glides me, through this life. When I was 10, I was diagnosed with cerebellar ataxia. While it’s not a familiar disease, Ataxia has a lot of classifications. Mine was the one wherein I suffer from a balance disorder, since the cerebellum of our brain helps in keeping the balance and correct posture. This took from me my control over my voluntary movements. Many a times I fell, bruised and hurt myself, and struggled to live like normal people do. Despite being diagnosed with the most enigmatic form of an untreatable disease, I did not let it undermine my determination to live, to give and to make myself useful for those suffering souls. This way, I’m incredibly attuned and connected to my name ‘Alma’. I consider myself to be God’s favourite child who has a purpose in life.
